Star Gazing?

Me and Ollie briefly touched on this in another thread, and I was just wondering whether I was the only one who loved, on a cool summers night, to just lay out on my roll mat for half an hour, and stare up at the stars, or whether it was now 'uncool' amongst some of you young'uns, which'd be a shame as it really is something beautiful. :rolleyes:

I don't know any constellations, bar the plough (spelling?), mainly due to lack of time, but it's just so relaxing!

I do like gazing at the stars on a nice clear night, I haven't done it in a while though, and last time I did it coz I wasn't sleeping in a tent or bivvy, not because I wanted to.

i work shifts and if its a clear night il'e go and sit outside on my brew and have a look at the sky , it takes mi mind of work for a bit

I used to love stargazing when I was a kid, despite being all but unable to see the stars from my home in central London. It's much more fun when you're somewhere rural - the night sky is so much deeper and clearer.

When i was in central australia the sky was literally magical. Really did feel that you were surrounded by stars, with a phenominal amount of shooting stars just to top it all off

When I stayed at Calgary Bay on Mull I was lucky enough for clear skies. The amount of stars is amazing when not spoiled by light pollution. I was also lucky enough to see a few shooting stars too.

I always keep abreast of what's going on in the skys and (OK - I'm sad!) have been known to get up at 0300 in the morning to view the Lenoids etc.

Would love to see the Northern Lights - went to Iceland a few years ago - amazing place - but it was in the summer!
