39 young girls (dont get any ideas) dressed inappropiately, (still dont get any ideas) with no weather gear - except a few bin liners, climbing Meall a'Bhuachaille, under the supervision of just one teacher. With one map and compass and no idea of how to use them!
I'm sure im showing my ignorance, but dont know where Meall a'Bhuachaille is, but my god, who left their common sense by the door!

I must say, I have always been in favour of girls being dressed inappropriately, but not if they are going into the hills (and, of course, not too young...). I once saw a similar party descending the Watkin path after rain, by the worst possible route (off the regular track, where the ground was slipping away), all wearing ordinary shoes or trainers. A lot of the younger ones were visibly shaking and crying as they went past. I don't know if the adult leaders knew or even cared. It's a good job sights such as this are relatively rare.
Bin bags? A few of my colleagues would lokk quite good dressed like that...

Whilst it should be that every outdoors place is 'open to all', and not just a 'club' of the 'most hardcore', things like this do make you wonder...

Same happened to me only a few weeks ago. Got to the small ridge by Scafell Pike and met up with a group of kids on a led hike some had ok gear but some just had normal jackets and track suite bottoms and on the top was just as bad an older couple had a thin running jacket and trainers with 3/4 trousers on and though it was summer their were very strong winds and driving rain, I had full foul weather gear on and I was cold, and on the way down more and more pople going up with just a sweater or hoddie on thank god for the mountain rescue.
