Has anyone been? Or further up.

Me and the other half are thinking about doing this in a couple of years after the wedding (so around 2010).

Has anyone been?
Was it worth it?
What training did you do before hand?
What if any guide/trecking company did you use?
Is it as busy as people make out?

Cheers :)

I have a couple of friends that have been. I also sold a gentleman a RAB Summit down jacket for a trek to base camp around about october time for his trip in february, I asked him if wouldn't mind sending some photos back to the shop, though i havn't heard anything, not the greatest priority for him i wouldn't have thought though!

For us its kind of in the planning stages (she loves to have a challenge to work to) but it is something we really fancy a go at.

I've never fancied EBC, because the best views are from peaks & EBC is too low down to get a good view of the mountain. From what I've heard, it's very crowded. However, the people I know who've done it loved it, so if that's your kind of thing there's no reason why you shouldn't enjoy it too.

Regarding fitness - the people I know who have done it are not very fit, so the requirements can't be that high! If you can walk up a UK hill with reasonable ease I reckon you'd be fine. Can't recommend a company I'm afraid, as I've never used one.

Cheers for that MariaD.

We can do most hills well enough (well apart from the other week when I was ill). Walking for around 8 hours easy enough.

Also started running as well etc (more for me as the other half is in the gym 4 times a week anyway).

Looking forward to it, even if it's a few years off lol. Good to have a goal :)
