I'm thinking about doing this after I've been though Uni due to the time it takes (and so I can get fit enough to be able to cover that distance) I'd prefer to camp so will be taking all the gear along (hence the need to get fit beforehand and to save money).
Now, am I mad? Or should I go for it?:D

How far is that walk?

Exact distance is variable, as there's no set route. But takes somthing like 3-4 months depending on how far you go per day.

I'd love to do something like that, but I doubt I will. Too much other stuff going on.

Like I said, I'll probably do it once I've been though uni. I'm incredably unfit at the moment and that would just about kill me if i tried it now.
Like most people who walk/ cycle etc from lands end to John o'groats and vise versa, I'll be doing it to raise money for a good cause. No, not to help pay the running costs of goxplore :D

I see that most of you think I'm mad, and why wouldn't you? I've worked out that i'd need £400 worth of 1:50,000 scale OS maps

Ouch,
I'd be writing to OS very nicely to see if they will sponsor.
I'd live to do something like that but due to work/bills/missus it won't happen.
Maybe the Pennine Way may be a better option for me
Go for it Ant

Okay, So, I Could post the maps home as I progress.. Sheading waight along the way Or post them on ahead to various post offices pick up the new map, drop off the old. Or, just photocopy the important parts.... Probably the easiest option..

Sounds great but bonkers.
Give us a shout when or if your passing Hamilton and you can have a shower and a cuppa. I'll even throw in a Bacon Buttie

I've been reading an online account of the walk by somone who has done this walk.
Who Decided to carry 17Kg to start with, then dropped that to 10kg after an injury... And this person stayed in B&B's.
I'm sure I won't be carrying anywhere near that ammount.

Nah - day 2 would be bad & possibly day 3, but once you'd been going a little while you'd build up a lot of fitness.
