A climber has died after he fell while out walking in the Scottish hills, it emerged today.
The male climber fell at Sgurr Alasdair (correct), in the Cuillins on the Isle of Skye, yesterday afternoon, police said.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Broadford Hospital, on the south end of the Isle, shortly before 4pm on Friday.
Stornoway mountain rescue team and a Stornoway coastguard helicopter were called upon to help rescue the climber after emergency services were alerted to the situation at lunchtime.
A spokeswoman for Northern Constabulary said: “Inquiries are presently ongoing to trace his next of kin.
“Further details will be released when they have been informed.”
