I think bottles of tomato ketchup should be banned from camps of all kinds. Small sachets of ketchup taken along as cooking ingredients might be exempt, but bottles should banned completely.
So, who's going to argue with me?

I completely agree - ruins a good meal that someone's spent ages cooking!
Mind you, I can't stand the stuff myself :D

Who would want to take a bottle with them? With a large group it should be even easier to make good tasting food without sticking in loads of tomato ketchup.

It doesn't matter what you take, as long as you take it home with you!

I know this is quite an old thread, but I thought I'd revive it, I always try to have breakfast in Tescos before going camping, they have cracking Heinz tomato ketchup satchets.
Macdonalds have handy sugar satchets and wooden environmentally friendly coffee stirrers.
I found some brilliant nescafe milky coffee (Coffee & Milk powder together) satchets in a local cheap shop as well.

I would argue that there is nothing really wrong with a bottle of ketcup unless of course you incorrectly wrap it and well particularly with the old design of ketchup bottles (I do not much care for the new bottles they are nice and all but when you squirt them on bacon sandwiches they tend to spray a big lump in a small area and are hard to control leading to soggy bread not that I often eat bacon sandwiches while camping) it could leak onto other stuff in your bag unless wrapped I suppose but then the wrapping could get sticky and it is all a big mess I would rather avoid frankly.

My main complaint about ketchup is that it contains too many additives. This can lead to habitual users losing the ability to punctuate - and consequently form sentences which are far too long. ;)

I guess there are some problems witrh modern food like that, but you have to admit, there is a lot of taste crammed in to those things. ok, mabey a kinda wierd chemical-y taste, but when you have some of the less good food that kinda looks like inflated carboard from those packets, modern flavourings do have an appeal.

I had the best bottle of ketchup ive ever bought over the weekend.
Was bought from morrisons for a couple of quid, with 30% extra free - so was a bargain and a real monster at that.
The foil seal came away easilygiving it a high score in my books. it was a sqeezey bottle so no tapping of base required and it had a no drip nozzle. perfect.
But best of all the ketchup came out at such high pressure it copuld be squirted 25ft!

I'd imagine you could have some great competitions with that bottle... might make a bit of a mess though? ;)

Yeah but squirrels go crazy for ketchup seriously spill some near badgers and they'll go and lick it up off the ground those crazy squirrels they basically seem to love the smell or something they'll go and sniff it like crazy but I've never seen one eat any I guess they just like the smell.
