When I have been out for any amount of time in sunny windy weather, my skin feels tight and itchy. Is there anything you can do to stop you skin from drying out when outdoors?

Sun block works as a mosturizer

Use moisturiser before you go out. Carry a small tube in youir first aid kit when you are out. Use sun block as Ken_nerve said it works really well.

This is not so much prevention as a cure for afterwards: Take a warm bath and massage the affected areas with Aqueous cream, which you can buy at chemists and supermarkets for about £2 or £3 for a large tub. After you bath, re-apply the cream directly to the skin and wait for it to be absorbed (don't run it in).

Other preparations are even better - Cetraben Emollient cream for example - but can be quite expensive and are not generally worth buying unless you suffer from dry skin generally.

I've just remembered another product. I use it on my eczema when it flairs up. E45 cream works a treat readily available from chemists etc.

I raid my girlfriend's handbag just before I go and pinch her tube of moisturiser cream. If you don't have a girlfriend to provide you with these luxuries, you can always go into Boots and pretend you are buying moisturiser for your sister!
