I think this year is going to be a very bad one for these little buggers.
Was out climbing earlier at my local outdoor fake wall and they were everywhere. Thick clouds of them, really ruined my evening.
A friend of mine says the crags are thick with them already, and is only May

I was out doing a sponsored hike tonight, and got eaten alive in the car park at the end! I thought I did not need to carry the midge stuff just yet lol

Wow, I must be so lucky, this is never a problem for me. Once I went down this boardwalk in the everglades. It was right in the swamp in the middle of summer and I didn't get *a single* mosquito or midge bite (as I bet you can guesseveryone with me was consumed). Why is it that some people are susceptable and others aren't? I heard about the 'thickness of skin' thing but the ones in florida can bite through cloths and stuff...

Blood type is a discernable difference - they can be picky buggers on that score
CO2 is how they track youb down so maybe you breath less then other people?
And they do like the smell of cheese so washing your feet regularly is advantageous

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones - I rarely get bitten either!

Unfortunately they do seem to have arrived in Wales too. I was on Tryfan today, and when it was calm there were noticable bites appearing :-(
