Apparently October just gone has been the hottest since records began!

I'm sorry, but I'm sure this isn't right! I'm sure only a few years ago the heating would be on full and i'd be wrapping up to go out - what are we doing to our planet!? :(

Aye, it has been a hot one. I agree, only 3 years ago there was frost on the ground for my birthday (8th october)

Apparently this winter is going to be the coldest in a long time. The dales, peak district and the moors in the snow, I can't wait :)

But we must be doing something wrong. Within 15 years am I going to be climbing Snowdon in the summer at 40degC? I sure as hell hope not!!!

Let's hope the winter is cold and INTERESTING, rather than just cold!

Aye, maybe a white new year. (Shaggysheep and myself go out on the moors on new years day.)

:D:D:D
Had the first snowfall today, unfortunately not enough to get us off school. We got about 5mm thick. Not really that much, but it sure felt good. Let's just hope it continues.

We've had some sleet, and it's getting quite cold, but no real 'snow' yet!

Still waiting! :D We've gone from the hottest October to what feels like the coldest November. Strange!

Noticed that new information has come out stating that bad data was used in the October report.

Hottest October on record … was really a September

"When outside analysts showed that GISS used September temperatures in Russia for its conclusions about October, GISS admitted that it has no quality control over the numbers is uses for its analysis"

which means records are official rubbish and unreliable, how can you not have quality control when using figurs for facts

The problem with this entire situation though, is that we have all read that October was the hottest ever... Has anyone read anywhere that the numbers reported were bogus? No. Not only was there no retraction, excuses were actually given for why the information was reported incorrectly. What kind of science is this?

(Read the thread - it actually refers to the weather in the UK in October 2005. Not Nasa's figures for October 2008 worldwide.)
