Yes it's that time of year again. Some people know it as New Year, I know it as New Gear.

The other day I was in Millets having a look at a new rucksack (my wilderness 35 is starting to show signs of wear and tear). I saw a rucksack that I'd never seen before, I went over and had a little look, at first I didn't look at the make/name of the rucksack. I had a little poke at all the features; airflow back system, nice padded waist belt, chest strap, 2 side pockets with compression straps, mesh pockets on the side, zipped pocket on the front, inside pocket in the hood, outside hood pocket, rain cover and last but not least a hydration system holder hole thingy.

Looking at the quality and build (very good) and the features (also very good) I thought it could be Berghaus or maybe Lowe Alpine. I then looked at the label. Eurohike!!!!!!!! Goodness me it was a shock. I instinctively looked at the price; £25, this was ridiculous, for a rucksack of this quality so cheap. My love for Eurohike lives on!!!

I picked it up and checked all the zips they moved smoothly and were all totally covered by the strom flaps. Moving onto the pockets, all were very good sizes. The sides perfect for a flask, and little oddments. The inside hood perfect for wallet and keys, and the outside hood was the perfect size for my emergency kit. The zipped pocket on the front of the rucksack was perfect for keeping a route plan and map in if needed. It could also fit in gloves and hat for easy access.

I filled it with sand bags and put it on, it was extremely comfortable, the straps aren't overly padded but are perfectly comfortable, the waist strap is perfect and the chest strap has the ability to be moved up and down from the bottom of the ribs to the neck.

It landed at the checkout along with a new whistle (my old one took a plunge down a waterfall). The damage to my wallet was ridiculously small (£25 thanks to D of E discount :))

Well the other day I was out in derbyshire with the rucksack and softshell etc.

The rucksack had been waterproofed by me before leaving and performed admirably in the pouring rain and snow. I didn't use the rain cover and water landed on the rucksack, beaded and ran off. It was perfectly comfortable, and my word the non-sweaty back was brilliant. I'm certainly hurrying to rid myself of memories of a freezing cold sweat ridden back, they are no more.

This rucksack is pretty much the same as the Berghaus Freeflow, just cheaper. A good buy indeed.
