Any other cavers on this board?

Just curious - If there's a few how would we get our "own" branch.

I was in OFD II (top) last weekend saw some stunning helicatites. Easy to get to too.

I used to go caving loads at uni, but haven't done it for nearly 5 years now. I used to enjoy it though, and I know other people on this board go caving as well.

Where do you go caving ususally? There's loads of decent caves in the Dales (which is where I used to do it) & you're not too far from there...

Mostly with the CCCC who are based in Cambridge (it made sense when i was there). We tend to do S. Wales but also the rest of the UK too - Yorkshire, Peaks, Mendips, even Devon on occasion. Next trip will be to county Clare and the Burren for a week mid september Guiness Caving and Music can't wait.
Ayone know of a friendly manchester club looking for new memebers?

Uni clubs - I've heard they've had real funding problems with expensive insurance and no support as they are not "competative sports" ????

The York uni caving society was very good - regular trips & no equipment problems. It also doubled as a climbing society. Most of the cavers also liked climbing so we'd go on combined caving/climbing trips around Yorkshire.

To be honest all the non-competitive sports societies at York seemed to be excellent. The Sport Parachute Scociety (which I was also a member of) was really well funded and won the university's "best sports society" award at the end of my 1st year. It might well be different at other universities though.

Guinness, caving & music... that sounds fantastic! I'd be jealous if wasn't going on holiday as well, although mine will be based on wine, fondue and climbing.

Yep OFD is in South Wales. Access controlled by the SWCC (South Wales Caving Club) the enterance is a good 100m from their (superb) hut in penwyllt. Decent walking around there too.

Pretties - pretty good. OFDs the cave with the Columns that get pictured a lot, but there is plenty else too.
