Exams are done, summer ball is out the way, and the next big thing I have to worry about is Fresher's Week.

In between now and then, I have about 3 months to do whatever I like with. At the moment I'm going canal boating and am spending a week at cub camp, before moving into my new house here in Bath and getting a proper chance to explore the area.

I'm hoping to spend a lot of time in the Summer getting fit - just not sure where to start! Going to try and do a lot more on my bike, but I need something that works the upper body properly too

Back in Bath after a quick trip home for a mate's birthday. Managed to squeeze in a quick walk in the Chilterns but it wasn't much - just an hour or so in hills before returning for tea!

Now I'm spending a lot of time working, upgrading GoXplore or getting ready for the Summer Ball here at uni - I'm in charge of Outdoor Lighting. Lots of fairly heavy lifting and work to do so I might get a bit fitter, or I might just break my back :p Scouting for Girls are playing so if I'm lucky I might get to meet them! :D

Planning to get as fit as possible over the Summer. Thinking of taking up something to try and keep fit next year... Not sure what the moment though!

I have a question. Providing you complete all the necessary courses (ML or WGML...I still have to look into all this properly) what are the prospects of actually getting job that allows you to sustain you financially?
I live in London and I work as a Visitor Host at the British Museum, a job that I like, but the outdoors have always been my real passion and I never miss a chance to be out and about in the mountains... Any suggestions, advice welcome,
thank you all!

So at the end of the day... it was not a very good ride... hopfully the slight modifications will improve things...

I headed up to Kinlochleven in Scotland over the New Year period with the aim of getting some walking done, and revisiting the Ice Factor - the ice climbing there is good fun, although I'm not sure I'll do it again - once you've done it a few times I've found there's not really much new you can do!

However I woke up on the 27th (the day we were leaving) with a delightfully sore throat that proceeded to get worse throughout the day (although shouting out all the lines in Shrek might not have helped...). When we finally arrived at about 8, my throat was even worse, my nose blocked up, and I was dutily informed that I had 'man-flu'. Naturally this meant that I slept until 3pm the next day.

This, combined with a general lack of energy and the mandatory partying on New Years Eve meant that the longest walk I did was the 500m or so to the pub. I did however manage to do a reasonable amount of climbing (indoor) and the ice climbing.

I still don't feel great, and have set a resolution to do some more walking and get my fitness level back up! Whether I manage this or not I shall see!

A train ride to Holyhead on the 30/10/07 saw us (me and my grandad) heading off to south stack following the anglesey coastal path from holyhead and back along the road.

We set off following from the station, stopping at a shop to buy some lunch. and headed to the breakwater where, we would start the walk proper.

The path from here was clear and grassy with a bridge or 2 along the route where there where gullies going down to the sea. At the end of this path is a track, we passed throhugh the gate and continued round, the path here was not quite as good, it was smaller, but still clearly visible. Further round, it became more rocky and the path became paved with stones and began to climb.

After a short climb the path leveled off for a while and passed a ruin before climbing again. When we got close to north stack we cut out the section that took us down to north stack itself and continued to south stack going up a steep climb then back down a short distance later heading round the bottom of holyhead mountain.

We finally reached the road at south stack, about 2 hours after setting out, and headed back along the road. This took the same ammount of time, but passed quicker being a familiar route.

Little walking was done, as the person I was staying with is old, so not that mobile anymore, but gladly showed me round by car.

Will probably be back in the summer for a spot of wildcamping.
