Biodegradable Soap

What biodegradable means

A "biodegradable" product is capable of being broken down, safely and relatively quickly, by microorganisms under natural conditions (an action that we also refer to as composting). A biodegradable product can come in solid or liquid form.

Using Biodegradable soap

  • Be sure to use biodegradable soap sparingly.
  • All washing and bathing, even with biodegradable soap, should be done at least 200 feet from all streams, lakes and other water sources to limit detergent and viral contamination of the water supply.

Impacts of biodegradable soap

Directly inputting soap into a water system will affect the biota, there have been cases of fish eyes reddening and swelling when put into contact with fairly low concentrations of these kinds of products
