ViewsVia ferrataFrom GuidesVia ferrata literally means "iron road". In German speaking areas, via ferrata routes are referred to as "klettersteig". Via ferrata routes are commonly found throught the Alps, particularly in Austria, Slovenia and the Italian Dolomites. The routes range in difficulty from easy mountain scrambles for beginners to highly challenging rock climbs. Via ferrata routes have fixed protection placed where necessary to enable climbers to climb without the use of climbing ropes. This protection can consist of rungs, ladders, steel cables, pegs or bridges. |
